Some fishermen saw him, and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. Later he spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock, for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods.[3] The main deity of the temple is Dewa Baruna or Bhatara Segara, who is the sea god or sea power and these days, Nirartha is also worshipped here.[4]

The Tanah Lot temple was built and has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of sea temples around the Balinese coast. In addition to Balinese mythology, the temple was significantly influenced by Hinduism.

On the main gate before entering temple area, you need to buy your entrance ticket, it is cost IDR. 60.000/person. 
On the main gate there is typically Balinese style gate with stone carving, you may make some shot before your steps continued.

After passing the gate, you will be “forced” to pass the stall where there are plenty of shop selling Bali arts products  from wood carving, painting, clothes, and some cafes. If you want to come directly to the temple, you can enter from the secondary gates which is located on the back side.

From the gate we will see the Tanah lot temple, we can get closer to the temple when it is low tide. When the tide is high, local life guard will put the Barrier, so don’t try to pass the Barrier line for your safety.

There also sea snake next to main temple which is looked after by the local priest, the holy snake is believed that when you pray while touching the snake, your wish will come true.

Next on the right side of the main temple of tanah lot temple, there is another rock with temple which is located higher from tanah lot temple, from this temple, you can make a good photo shoot with tanah lot temple background.

On the right side of another great view also available, there is another temple, it is called Batu Bolong temple. Means temple lays on the punched rock. This temple is also worth for photo background.
